went to watch Phantom last sat and if there's only one word to describe it, its simply awesome!! worth every single of my 160 bucks. :) im especially impressed by the backdrops... how they made it looked like the stage was really filled with water and when Raoul dived into the "lake", he really disappeared into the stage... we were seated in the last seat of circle one, but our seats were quite centered so we got quite a good view, though the distance is a bit far. i should have booked the seats earlier.
phantom has been my fav musical since more than a decade ago and im glad i caught it. i even read the Phantom of the Opera novel and i can sing 95% of the songs by heart. keke. almost didnt want to watch it till EQ said: i dont want to wait for another 10 years for the musical to come to town again lor. yeah, the last time Phantom was in town was in 1995 and at that time although i really really wanted to go watch it, i didnt have the finances as i was still a poor sec 3 student.
will definately go watch it again if it comes to singapore again. but i would really watch it at other countries so that i can catch the different casts in action. was telling net, when we go france, we must go to the london opera house!! keke.
the only pity is that i will never get the chance to catch the original casts, Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman. i still think michael crawford's voice and singing is the most solid. maybe its because i hear his singing over the soundtrack, which is definately different from live singing. but i actually cried from listening to his soundtrack alone. thats how powerful he is.
now i cant stop humming the songs from the musical.
the phantom of the opera is there... inside my head...
