bad feng shui

Took an afternoon off on tues and went shopping with sis as it was her bird day.

I love shopping on weekday afternoons. Don’t have to push through the crowd, don’t have to wait for the dressing room, don’t have to Q to make payment. We combed most of wisma and taka. I bought a top and a bottom. The birthday gal had a more fruitful trip, she bought a top, 2 bottoms and a pair of shoes. Full set from top to toe!!

Anyway, while shopping, we came to a conclusion that the giordano store at wisma (basement) has bad feng shui. The people only go in the shop to browse, not to buy. And it gives me a very dead 死气沉沉 feeling.

Sis and I went into the store and tried some berms. We actually quite liked them but while trying, I need to go to the loo. So I told sis to wait there for me while I make a fast trip to the loo. While on the way to the loo, I was thinking if I should get the berms or not. When I went back to look for sis, she was already done and deciding which colour to get. She couldn’t make up her mind and I couldn’t make up my mind so I told her Im most probably not getting it because if I need to take so long to consider, then its not a “die die must buy” piece. So since Im not buying, we decided to go walk around first while sis can take her time to decide what colour she wants.

So we left, continued our shopping trip, went taka and went to the giordano outlet there. Sis decided to try the berms again and so I decided to go try as well. And after trying, I decided to get it.

So in the end I bought a polo tee and a pair of berms while sis bought a pair of berms and a pair of capri.

Same brand, same items, same design... The difference is at the taka outlet, we happily parted with our 100+ bucks but at the wisma outlet, we somehow jus dun feel like buying.

And that’s how we came up with the conclusion... ;p

ahhhhh...

today (or rather yesterday since its already 4.30am now) i woke up early at 8 (considered freaking early for a sat lor) and started my hectic schedule from 9am (appointments, meetings, presentations...)

did something that i have never thought that i will do or i will never want to do in the past. and the results? well not really good. i have expected that it will be tough but when the toughness hits you in reality, i guess it was more than i expected... thank goodness i have moral support from jon and bob. hence its always good to work as a team. :)

well, was a bit discouraged and dejected from the results this afternoon. but will i do it again next week?? yes i will. because successful people dont give up and people who give up will never be successful and successful people do for a short period of time what others wont so that they can do for a lifetime what most people cant. :).

yeah, and so i'll continue to strive on no matter how tough the path is although at times i do feel tired. especially having to walk this path alone. sometimes i do hope that i can find someone to walk through with me so we can share the pains and finally enjoy the sweet fruits of labour together. ah well, but if heaven never give me what i want, he will give me something better... :)

alright... time to sleep, relax on my kiko and when i shall face the day with new vigour, new targets, new passion again. :D

there is nothing as failure... only temporary stop to success...

coincidence

what is the most coincident situation that you have experienced??

Yesterday I called a friend.

**ring ring**

Someone picked up the line : hello??

me: hello, can I speak to MY??

guy: hold on... (in the back ground I hear him ask for MY and the lady asked who looking for me)

MY: hello??

me: hi MY, this is clatzz. How are you??

MY: who are you? I dun know any clatzz

me: urm.. We met at blah blah place about 2 weeks ago and we chatted on the phone before as well. You cant remember?? (couldn’t be this person got such short term memory right??)

MY: I really don’t recall and I’ve never been to this blah blah place before...

After another 3 mins, we confirmed that I called the wrong number. the number i called is an office and that number is their fax number. And this person happens to have the same name as the friend im looking for. And my friend’s name is not a one that I consider a common name.

Now this is coincidence!!

out dated

These days I watch very little tv, and I almost don’t listen to radios and I don’t read gossip magazines or newspapers either. And that makes me very out dated on the latest gossips...

Some time ago I was with my fren, in the car:

fren: this song nice hor??
me: ya. Not bad. What song is it ah??
fren: wah lau, u mean u don’t know??
me: no leh. This is the first time I heard this song. The guy sounds like jay chou. Am I right??
fren: wah u damn jia lat leh you. This song has been playing on radio on everywhere almost everyday and u are telling me u never hear it before??
me: really mah. Cannot meh :(
fren: please don’t tell people u are a singaporean

(btw the song is called 珊瑚海 and that was seriously the first and the last time I heard that song. This song really that popular meh??)

Just the other day, I was at heeren happily shopping when the same friend came to me very excitedly and whispered:

fren: do you watch the super band competition?
me: no
fren: the guy over there is one of the members of the xxx (forgotten the name already) group in the super band
me: never heard of the group before. Which guy?? Where??
fren: wah lau!!! His group made it into the finals and you never heard of it before??
me: I never even watch 1 episode of the super band competition. I never heard them sing before as well. I only know the group brods because my sis knows one of the guys.
fren: faintz.

And the other day I was home with dad...

dad: wah 迷路兵 won ah
me: huh?? what 迷路兵 ??
dad: the super band lah!!

OMG!! Even dad knows 迷路兵 and super band lor. He is more trendy and updated than me. :s

soups n potatoes

My colleagues have a new past time now. Every lunch time, they will come to my desk to see what soup im having for the day. Well, I have been bringing soup to work for lunch lately. I call it 温软牌爱心汤 because its lovingly prepared by mum every night before she goes to bed. Yeah, im a lucky girl. Its basically miso soup with all kinds of nuts (cashew, red beans, broad beans, peanuts, almond etc) and mum will add some extra ingredients everyday. Yesterday was portbello mushroom. The day before was corn. So everyday during lunch, my colleagues will come over and see what extra ingredients im having for the day. They will ask: 今天什么好料?today’s special ingredient is corn, ladies finger, golden mushroom and cherry potatoes. =)

Speaking of potatoes, ystd I was at supermarket with KW and we saw these cute looking potatoes. They were very small in size (like the length and width of my 2 fingers). KW picked up the pack of potatoes and showed me.

KW: look at these potatoes.
me: ya, so cute. Looks like shit.
KW: **dumb folded**

Opps!! Hahaha :p.

Went shopping at heeren last night after work. Got myself a lovely dress. Actually my intention of going there is only to look for an Italy tank top. But it is only available in mans cut. After that I decided to just walk around since my appt later in the night has been cancelled. And that walk around cost me 80 bucks. Well, but I is happy cos I really liked the dress and its in a lovely yellow colour too. Happiness. Saw some heels that caught my fancy too but they do not have my size anymore. The sales girl says that I can try checking out their outlet at far east plaza. Next stop shopping: far east plaza!!

Alrighty. Back to work. Colleague was suggesting to our manager that we should each handle individual projects instead of both of us handling a bit of all the projects. So we had a discussion to split the work and I ended up handling 5 new projects and 5 existing ones.

Nah, don’t want to touch on how much colleague is handling. No point comparing like this.

Right... Back to work now...

sibeh expensive man-gold

I have decided... If I were to ever go jobless, I will set up a fruit stall outside my office building.

Yesterday, I was craving for some mangoes so after work, I went to the fruit store at the basement of my office to get a piece of mango. I always know that their fruits are slightly more expensive but for the sake of convenience, I decided to get my mango relish there. How expensive can a small piece of mango get right?

But I was damn bloody wrong. I took a piece of mango and the lady behind the counter snapped: 4 dollars. I stared at her blankly. For a moment I thought I heard wrongly. I pointed to the mango I was holding and asked: how much? And she repeated: 4 dollars.

I couldn’t believe. A piece of freaking mango cost bloody 4 dollars?? Im buying mango not man-gold lor. And it is not one whole mango lor. Its like the top part of the flesh only. And its not a big piece some more. Its about the size of my palm only lor. Bloody hell. A small piece of mango like that costs me 4 stoopid bucks.

So, I paid for the mango and made sure I ate every single bit of it, not even a drop of juice left. I will eat the plastic bag if it is edible too. Haha.

I swore, I will never ever buy fruits from that store again!! Daylight robbery!! Later that night, I went geylang to buy some mangoes and mangosteen. They cost only $10 for 7 mangoes and the mangoes are very very sweet!! (tested and proven)

So If I were ever to go jobless, I will set up a small fruit stall beside that store and I will sell my fruits at half their prices. Confirm very good business. haha.

End note:
I think im on a fruits fetish recently. Bought $15 worth of fruits recently. And I am having cravings for:

Mango
Mangosteen
Peach
Dragon fruit
And any fruits that is soft, sweet and juicy

clatzz the cook

I realised that im not much of chef material. Wanted to cook laksa for mum, granny and max on national day but ended up mum did most of the cooking instead. Hee. She boiled the vegetable stew, fried the toufu, blended the chilli paste, cooked the thick bee hoon, mushrooms, long beans, tau gua and bean sprouts while I helped to pour the stew, pour the coconut milk and condense milk and chopped the garlic, mushrooms and long beans.

Well, not that I pushed all the job to her but I she was in the kitchen preparing ace’s lunch and she just automatically took over while I was still holding on to my recipe while deciding what to do next, what pot to use and how to even on the gas cooker. Haha.

Well, but all big chefs don’t do the cooking mah. They get their junior cooks to do the cooking and all they need to do is to supervise and make sure the food tastes good right? So yeah, I was the big chef that day. I was the one who told mum what to add next and how much of each she should add. They there you have it!! Yummy laksa. And most importantly is that ultimately mum knows how to cook laksa now so next time she can still cook for us!! :D BRILLIANT!!

According to all who tried the laksa, the laksa tasted good. Pictures of my laksa are with sis. I suspect they are still in her camera.

I guess I must really polish up my culinary skills because I realise im quite helpless in this aspect. Hiaks. But I think I should cook only when mum and dad are not around because if they are around, they will automatically take over the cooking. While I am still thinking if the pot is big enough for all the gravy, mum already had all the gravy in the pot and has proceeded to cooking the tau gua. So I think I shall fumble with the kitchen once again when they do not need to use the kitchen and just leave the whole kitchen to me. :) that said, I should also prepare them mentally that their food will most probably be ready at least 3 hrs later.

Well, I have found some simple looking recipes on the net. I think I will give my culinary skills another shot, though when I told mum about it, she told me to better not. Ah but well, if we never fail how will we succeed right??

Probably with a few more practices, I will be able to whip out a few good dishes. Who knows, I might even be able to make good, nice, café standard cheese cakes?? :p

emotions...

Yesterday while sitting at the round table with Dr George, Max, and all, I was somewhat in awe. Somehow, I never imagined this scene to be happening, but it is. :)

I went to bed last night with a mixture of emotions which i cant really comprehend and ended up dreaming through the night. Woke up feeling dissatisfied with my sleep but the funny dreams (I cant remember the contents of the dreams) left a sweet tinge in my heart and bought a smile on my face. Just like how I cant stop smiling yesterday, after the phone call, on the way home.

Well sometimes my own reactions surprised me.

Sometimes I wonder is my reaction one sided? Meaning to say my such reaction is normal because the other party has the same reaction too? Anyway, focus = reality. Just focus on what I want now and I believe I will get the results I want.

Whatever will be will be, I believe heaven will give me the best for me. :)

Lastly...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SINGAPORE!! Our national day celebrations should last for a whole week because we are such a great, smashing, patriotic, fast growing, clean, fine, green, efficient, democratic, safe, fair, peaceful, powerful and unhappy (yes, singaporeans are ranked the no. 2 most unhappy people in the world!!) country. We should have 7 days public holidays!!

2 minds...

I am in 2 minds again...

Long long time ago (about a year ago), I have made up my good mind to get rid of the current samsung E630 phone that I was using. So I did abit of research on the up and coming phone models and SE W800 caught my eye. That phone was not launched in singapore yet at that moment so I decided to wait patiently.

sporty W800 in orange

I waited for several months till its finally out in Singapore and when I see the real thing, I thought it doesn’t looks as nice as in the pictures. And then I caught Nokia’s 6280 which (again) was not in Singapore at that time and decided to get 6280 instead of W800. So I waited patiently for another few months for the launch of Nokia 6280.

classy 6280 in silver

When N 6280 was available in Singapore, my heart has already caught fancy of SE’s new phone, k600i. Loved the red colour, the 2MP camera and the sleek design. But at that time, k600i was not in Singapore yet so again I decided to wait patiently.

Till now. It is available. I am in 2 minds... Between...

mesmerizing K600i in red

and

elegant N73 in white

hmmmm... which should i go for? sometimes too much choices is not necessarily a good thing...

my IQ

126

You scored 126. This means that based on your answers, your IQ score is between 116 and 126. Most people's IQs are between 70 and 130.
In fact, 95% of all people have IQs within that range. 68% of people score between 80 and 120.

Your Intellectual Type Is:
Insightful Linguist

You are gifted with the natural fluency of a writer and the visual and spatial strengths of an artist. Those skills contribute to your creative and expressive mind.

Insightful linguists can take complex concepts and articulate them to just about anyone. You have a gift with words and insight into processes and the way people think. These talents enable you to explain things clearly to people.

Helen Keller is a great example of an Insightful Linguist. Blind, deaf and mute, she was still able to put things together in her mind and to understand complex ideas. She could do that because she was able to conceptualize ideas internally. Though she could not literally see, she had the visual and spatial skills necessary to understand patterns on an abstract level. She learned to read, write and ultimately became a writer on issues of social justice.

You have an uncanny ability to work your way out of sticky situations using your talent with words. Crossword puzzles, debates — you're particularly well equipped to come out on top since you can read people well.

Like Charles Dickens, your verbal skills go far beyond having a good vocabulary. Dickens' genius was in the artful and descriptive way he crafted sentences. Also Dickensian, is your keen eye for detail and your adeptness for identifying the best way to express an idea based on your given surroundings and circumstances.

Your ability to communicate your vision clearly will take you far. So enjoy being perceptive, and make the most of your abilities as an insightful linguist.

Because of the way you process information, these are just some of the many careers in which you could excel:

* Publicist
* Translator (haha... no wonder... :p)
* Graphic designer (eh... my arts sucks)
* Teacher
* Broadcaster
* Public speaker
* Attorney
* Politician

Some of Your Greatest Talents
You've got tons of strengths. It wouldn't surprise us if you:

* Can clarify complex issues
* Can bring new insight to ideas through their fresh perspective
* Are good at leading teams

Your 4 Intelligence Scales

Now let's look at the factors that contribute to you being an Insightful Linguist with a 126 IQ score.

Here's how each of your intelligence scores break down:

Mathematical Intelligence

80th percentile

You scored in the 80th percentile on the mathematical intelligence scale. This means that you scored higher than 70% - 80% of people who took the test and that 20% - 30% scored higher than you did.

Your mathematical intelligence score represents your combined ability to reason and calculate. You scored relatively high, which means you're probably the one your friends look to when splitting the lunch bill or calculating your waitresses' tip. You may or may not be known as a math whiz, but number crunching might come a little easier to you than it does others.

Visual-Spatial Intelligence

100th percentile (of course lah... im 100% visual :D)

You scored in the 100th percentile on the visual-spatial intelligence scale.
This means that you scored higher than 90% - 100% of people who took the test and that 0% - 10% scored higher than you did.

The visual-spatial component of intelligence measures your ability to extract a visual pattern and from that envision what should come next in a sequence. Your score was relatively high, which could mean that you're the one navigating the map when you're on an outing with friends. You have, in some capacity, an ability to think in pictures. Maybe this strength comes out in subtle ways, like how you play chess or form metaphors.

Linguistic Intelligence

90th percentile

You scored in the 90th percentile on the linguistic intelligence scale.
This means that you scored higher than 80% - 90% of people who took the test and that 10% - 20% scored higher than you did.

Linguistic abilities include reading, writing and communicating with words. This test measures knowledge of vocabulary, ease in completing word analogies and the ability to think critically about a statement based on its semantic structure. Your score was relatively high, which could mean you know your way around a bookstore and maybe like to bandy about the occasional 25-cent word to impress friends.

Logical Intelligence

40th percentile (oh no... i think i have no sense of logic. anyway im an in logical person... haha)

You scored in the 40th percentile on the logical intelligence scale.
This means that you scored higher than 30% - 40% of people who took the test and that 60% - 70% scored higher than you did.

how to find your ideal partner?

The answer is finally out!! All the while we were guessing who in our group will be the first to get hitched and now we have an answer!! My dearest QQ is going ROM this Nov. woohoo. Happy for her. :)

Since we are on the topic of marriage and partners, let me share with you what I have learnt over the weekend. During SPS last weekend, someone asked Dr George how to find an ideal partner. So I shall share this with all of you now (for those single and available ones). :)

1. List down all the characteristics you want to find in your ideal partner.
list down as many as possible and be as specific as possible because 目标明确, 结果自然来.

2. After listing down all the characteristics you want in an ideal partner, now list down what type of person (what qualities and characteristics does the person need to have) do you think your “ideal partner” stated above will be attracted to.

3. look at the 2nd list you have written. Are you this person yet? If no, then what can you do to become such a person? Because today, we will attract who we are. We attract people of the same magnetic force as us.

A lot of people keep wondering why they keep attracting the same type of guys/gals. This is why. Because they are the same too!! Likes attract!! So... Have you written down what traits your ideal partner should possess? And then are you already the person that will attract such a person? Here’s some food for thought... ;)

spooky on the 13th floor

Sunday night, after SPS has ended, we started to clear up, pack up, rearrange the tables and stuff. By the time we were all done, it was already near 4am in the morning. When everything was done, we were only left with the last chore, that is to bring all the rubbish to the collection point, which is at B2. So 4 of us took the cargo lift down to clear the bags of rubbish. After we had cleared the bags of rubbish, we went to the lift lobby and realised that the lift is not responding. There were no light, no numbers. After waiting for awhile, we have no choice but to climb up the stairs to level one, where we took the office lift up.

Then come the spooky thing. The 4 of us were in the lift. The lift went up... Up... And suddenly, on the 13th floor, it stopped and the lift door opened. There was nobody there. But of course there shouldn’t be anybody. Its 4+ in the morning!! The lobby and the corridors were dimly litted. :s

When we reach our level, the rest of the people were waiting for us at the lobby. So we got our bags and whole lot of us (about 10 of us) took the lift down. While waiting for the lift, we were telling the rest about what happened in the lift earlier. Then the lift came. And on the way down, the lift stopped on the 13th floor and the door opened again!!!

This time everybody in the lift went quiet. When the door closed, we just laugh it off and say must be GL playing a trick on us cause he was standing next to the door. But im sure GL didn’t do that.

Wah lau, really spooky sial. Of all levels, stopped on the 13th. And now is the 7th month some more. Come to think of it now, I think both times we took the same lift. :s
